These past couple of weeks saw the probable departure of our bass player, R, who wants to get serious about her nutrition studies. But K is a good soldier and friend. The two of us met for a short practice session this morning which included our first stab at an original, bass-heavy, end-of-the-year holiday tune--which, lacking a bass, sounded thin--and a song I wrote when I was a fifth grader at St. Patrick's Elementary School in Kent, Ohio. Listening to a recording of our practice session now, I'm glad that I was of a rebellious turn of mind even at that age. If we were to include something like this short and spirited juvenile
rocker, the album might end up being conceived as both a debut and a
'songs of my life' sort of production. Has that been done before?
K's friend may join us on bass for the next session and, despite the apparent loss of our inspirational band mate, R, we're not giving up on the goal of making an album.
